Survey Design: Understanding Impediments to Voting

Objective

Our group generated a survey to measure voting preferences and behavior. What are the stories behind the 43% of eligible voters who did not vote in 2012 or 2016?

Methods

To answer this crucial question, I took the lead with the group in formulating the questions, implementing the survey logic in Survey Monkey, and illustrating key graphs based on findings. We tested the questions with five people and revised any questions based on user input

After writing the survey questions, our group utilized Mechanical Turk to get a random sampling of answers from the general United States population.

Displays illustrated graph of the top three reasons why people didn't vote.

After we completed the survey, we presented our findings about reasons why and potential obstables voters face when attempting to vote.

Poster Design: Redesigning Error Messaging on Github

Speaking from experience, learning to code is intimidating! And while the developer community is generally friendly, learning how developers work takes patience, time, and resiliance. What can Github do to help users, especially those learning to program, recover from errors while using the application?

User Research: Improving the Admissions Customer Experience

A university wanted deeper insights about improving the overall admissions experience for potential students. Using contextual inquiry methods, the group I worked with pinpointed pain points and suggested potential solutions.
